Our Gold Plated Jewellery
Gold Plated Jewellery
Our gold plated jewellery is made using a thin layer of 14ct, 18ct or 24ct real gold over a base metal like brass or copper. It’s the most common and affordable type of fashion jewellery and needs proper care to ensure the gold plating lasts.
Gold Vermeil Jewellery
Our gold vermeil jewellery is made using a 2.5 micron layer of 14ct, 18ct or 24ct real gold over sterling silver. Vermeil jewellery is typically longer lasting due to the thicker layer of gold used, and more expensive due to the precious silver base metal.
Gold Filled Jewellery
Our gold filled jewellery is made by heat fusing a thick layer of gold alloy to a base metal like brass or copper which creates a long lasting, anti-tarnish plating. Gold filled items are typically made of 5% real gold, classing them as the highest quality and longest lasting pieces under solid gold jewellery.
Care guide for gold plated, gold vermeil & gold filled jewellery
Most of our gold plated pieces are coated in a thin anti-tarnish solution that helps to maintain the finish. However, it can wear off without proper care. Ensure the longevity of your jewellery by:
-
Keeping it dry (remove when exercising, showering & swimming)
-
Avoiding contact with chemicals (apply perfume, body spray, moisturisers or SPF and allow to dry / absorb before wearing jewellery)
-
Storing correctly to avoid oxidation (store safety away in a jewellery box or pouch to keep your pieces dust free and shiny for longer)
Please note, the natural oils in our skin can accelerate the tarnishing process.
